Poverty associated with suicide risk in children and adolescents

(Boston Children's Hospital) Between 2007 to 2016, nearly 21,000 children ages 5-19 years old died by suicide. New research shows the rate of suicides in this age group is 37 percent higher in counties with the highest levels of poverty compared with the rate in counties with the lowest levels of poverty.
